This app works together with a self assembling physical virus model (available from http://sciencewithinreach.com) . Shaking the components in a bottle produces a complete spherical viral capsid. The app tracks the shaking movement based on color threshholding. Simply touch the virus on screen and then track the shaking. A thermometer and graph show the energy put into the system. Too little energy and the virus will not assemble, too much and it will break apart, but the right amount of input energy will allow the 12 assembly pieces to make a complete spherical viral capsid.
